Unless you plan on shopping for everything you need overseas, chances are you’ll be taking luggage with you on your journey. From having enough clothing to get you through to your return home, to cameras or smart phones for snapping those memories along the way; Travel Insurance Direct plans can provide cover if your things are lost, stolen or damaged
Nothing beats travelling the world but, when moving around from A to B in unfamiliar surroundings, you may find a few luggage items have gone missing. Travel insurance can help take the sting out of replacing or repairing luggage items that have gone astray.
Coverage is included automatically however; sub-limits do apply and vary depending on the type of luggage item and chosen plan. You can check these sub-limits in the PDS applicable to your plan.
If your luggage items exceed the included sub-limits, you can purchase the ‘Specified items option’ when purchasing your policy. By specifying your high value items on the policy, you will also avoid having depreciation applied if you need to claim for those items.
In the event of a claim, an excess will still apply to your valuable items unless you have paid to reduce your excess and we will ask you for proof such as a receipt to confirm your ownership and the value of the item entered.
Cover is available for sporting equipment that is stolen, accidentally lost or damaged as per the policy terms however, there is no cover for sporting equipment when in use.
Keep in mind, snow sports equipment is only covered if you have selected the Snow sports cover option and paid the additional premium.
It is important to read the PDS for your chosen plan, as there are exclusions and limitations to the cover offered for luggage, including but not limited to:

Sticking to a shoestring budget? The Basics plan is designed for travellers who want coverage for all the important things, like hospital bills and stolen luggage, without breaking the bank. Are you a frequent flyer? If you travel often for business, or have a few holidays coming up, our Annual Multi Trip plan could be for you.
