Do I need to apply for a visa?

No, the Indonesian Government allows for Australians to visit Bali (Indonesia) under visa-free short visits. You must apply for a Visitor on Arrival visas if you are planning to stay longer than 30 days.

How much does it cost?

The visa-free, 30-day option is free.

How long is it valid for?

Visa-free short visits are valid for 30 days. It’s important to remember that this is not one month, it is 30 days. Your arrival day counts as one and your departure day also counts as another. Calculate your time wisely to avoid fines. If you overstay, you could incur fees of 300,000 Indonesian rupiah per day.

Can I extend my visa?

Yes. If you do plan on staying over 30 days, you must apply for a visa from an Embassy or Consulate of Indonesia or on arrival pay US$35 for a 30 day visa and can be extended in-country for another 30 days. It is important to remember that tourists arriving on the visa-free option cannot apply for an extension. The visa-free and VOA facility is not available to foreigners entering:

• Indonesia through the land border between Timor Leste (East Timor) and Indonesian West Timor
• Indonesian West Papua

Bali’s duty free limits are below:

• Alcohol – 1 litre
• Tobacco – 50 cigars or 200 cigarettes or 100 grams of tobacco
• Cash – declare cash in excess of 1 million IDRon arrival and departure
• Perfume – clearly intended for personal use
• Food – allowed in reasonable quantities and must be territory registered

What is restricted?

Guns, weapons, narcotics, fresh fruit and vegetables, Chinese medicine and printings, ammunition, pornography, certain fish and plants, and the importation of electronic equipment is not permitted at all. Dogs and cats will require an import permit.

Passports
