Do I need to apply for a visa?

Australian passport holders wanting to visit Singapore for tourism, business or social purposes do not require an entry visa for stays less than 90 days. For other kinds of travel you’ll need to apply for a visa before you arrive. Learn more.

Can I extend my visa and what are the costs involved?

An Australian or any traveller to Singapore can apply for an extension of a short term social visit pass if the individual meets specific criteria:

• An applicant has not previously obtained an extension of stay on the particular trip
• Intends to stay only up to 89 days from the date of entry to Singapore
• Their current social visit pass currently has a remaining validity not less than two days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays

The extension can be applied for online at e-Xtend. The visa fee for an extension is SGD$40.

What are you allowed to bring in?

All dutiable goods brought into Singapore are subject to the payment of duties under the Goods & Services Tax. This includes tobacco products, intoxicating liquors and motor vehicles.

There are three different options for bringing in alcohol:

• 1 litre of wine, spirits and beers
• 2 litres of wine, 1 litre of beer
• 1 litre of wine, 2 litres of beer

Currency: Individuals carrying currency with a total value exceeding SGD$20,000 must declare this information on the NP727 form.

What is prohibited?

• Chewing gum (It has been illegal since 1992) – oral dental and medicated gum is allowed
• Chewing tobacco and imitation tobacco produces (electronic cigarettes)
• Controlled drugs and narcotics
• Firecrackers
• Cigarette lighters imitating a pistol, revolver or gun shape
• Pornography or other obscene materials

Controlled goods

• Animals and their by-products
• Meat
• Fish
• Fruits and vegetables
• Plants
• Endangered wildlife species
• Explosives, weapons, toy guns
• Medicines

Passports

All travellers are required to have at least six months validity remaining on their passports, otherwise, entry may be refused.
