5 of the best beach holiday destinations in Australia

Reading time: 2 minutes

It’s hard to rival the beach culture found on the sprawling shores of Australia. After all, where else in the world possesses such impressive coastal diversity and guaranteed sun, sand and surf that can be embraced all year round?

While there are thousands of beautiful beaches to choose from, the following list encapsulates the picture-perfect views so synonymous with Australia’s beachy landscapes.

So, without further ado, here are some of the best beach holiday destinations to visit next time you’re in town.

1. Mandalay Beach, Perth

When hunting for the best beach destinations, the West Coast of Australia often gets overlooked. However, Mandalay Beach south of Perth is looking to prove everyone wrong. This sprawling stretch of sand is popular with anglers, but even if you don’t fish, it’s worth a trip just for the untouched beauty that awaits. Depending on the time of the year and weather conditions, it’s often possible to have the stunning shore of Mandalay Beach all to yourself.

2. Jervis Bay, New South Wales

Described as one of the best seaside escapes in Australia, Jervis Bay is a must-visit for all in the NSW area. There’s plenty of opportunity for a sunbathe and swim, along with plenty of options for eating and exploring.

As well as boasting its own appeal, Jervis Bay is also the gateway to other beaches in the area. Meet the resident kangaroos at Pebbly Beach, visit the family-friendly swimming spot at Hyams Beach and scuba dive at Jervis Bay Marine Park.

3. Ninety Mile Beach, Victoria

Who said we can’t have quality and quantity? With Ninety Mile Beach in Victoria, lucky beach-goers can enjoy the best of both worlds. Located on the south-eastern coastline of the East Gippsland region of Victoria, the bountiful beach faces the great Gippsland Lakes and Bass Strait, and plays host to endless adventure. Choose to laze on the unspoilt sands, jog beside the lapping waves or partake in whale and dolphin watching.

4. Nudey Beach, Fitzroy Island

Don’t worry, togs are compulsory when visiting Fitzroy Island’s jaw-dropping Nudey Beach. Just last year this white coral beach took the number one spot in author Brad Farmer’s 101 beaches in Australia 2018 list. So, what makes it so special?

For starters, Nudey Beach is located in the same vicinity as the world-famous Great Barrier Reef, so expect shimmering water and tropical surroundings. Next up, you have to take a 45-minute boat ride and make a short walk through lush rainforest and coastal woodlands to reach the shores of Nudey Beach. Don’t worry, every minute of travel is worth the reward of stunning sanctuary away from throngs of tourists.

Noah Beach, Daintree National Park

If you’re seeking a beach destination well and truly off the beaten path, Noah Beach is the ideal choice. Located in the magnificent Daintree National Park in Far North Queensland, the sprawling sands of Noah Beach are generally only visited by those staying in the National Park’s campground.

Pitching a tent in these splendid surroundings gives you the opportunity to have World Heritage Listed rainforest and untouched sand-stretched shores on your doorstep.
