TID travel insurance coverage includes:

- Cover for families.
- Cover for cancellation or trip delay.
What does travel insurance cover in Bali?
- Trip cancellation or Interruption
Planning a relaxing stay in Seminyak? If sickness, accidents, or severe weather force you to cancel or cut your trip short, TID insurance may cover your non-refundable expenses.
TID provides coverage for 11 specific events that could impact your travel plans. However, to qualify, the event must have occurred after your Certificate of Insurance was issued. Optional cancellation benefit limits are available (additional fees may apply). Note: Change-of-mind cancellations are not covered.
- Natural disasters & travel disruptions
Bali is prone to floods, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions. These events can lead to flight cancellations, diversions, or trip delays.
If an unexpected natural disaster affects your travel, TID insurance may help with additional costs. However, if it’s a known event before purchasing your policy, coverage may not apply. Check TID Travel Alerts and government advisories before your trip.
- Adventure sports & activities
If your Bali itinerary includes surfing, rafting, or trekking, accidents can happen. TID covers medical assistance, evacuation, and medical repatriation if needed.
For those bringing personal golf or surf equipment, select policies like The Works and Annual Multi-Trip offer coverage for loss, damage, or rental replacements.

Tips to travel safe in Bali
While Bali is generally safe, take these precautions for a hassle-free trip:
- Prevent theft – Keep valuables in a bum bag, lock hotel rooms, and avoid leaving items unattended.
- Avoid Arak – This traditional drink has been linked to methanol poisoning. Only consume drinks from reputable bars.
- Stay healthy – Use insect repellent, wear sunscreen, and avoid tap water or drinks with ice.
- Beware of Monkeys – In Ubud’s Monkey Forest, avoid carrying food, secure sunglasses, and don’t grin at monkeys (it’s seen as aggression!).

Bali travel insurance FAQs
Am I covered if I ride a moped, scooter or motorbikes in Bali?
We see a lot of motorcycle accidents and the worst-case scenario is when someone is hurt and has no cover because they didn’t follow the terms and conditions of cover. For travel insurance cover to apply, you must be wearing a helmet at all times (even if local law doesn't require it) and you must have a valid licence to ride in Bali and the same class of vehicle back in your country of residence. Terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions apply to coverage for events that occur while riding a motorbike or scooter. For more information check out our FAQ on travel insurance for motorbikes and scooters.
Am I covered if a volcano erupts, or an ash cloud occurs in Bali?
Your TID policy offers cover for costs you incur because of natural disasters such as a volcanic ash cloud. However, to have cover available, you need to have purchased your policy before the event occurred. Check our travel alerts page to keep abreast of any events, and always have your browser locked on Smartraveller and the World Health Organization sites.
