Travel Trends: Australians Flock to Europe
Recent sales data from TID offers insights into travel trends among Australians. From 1 January to 19 June 2024, there has been a notable surge in European travel.
- European destinations on the rise: In the first half of June 2024, 19%** of TID customers chose Europe as their destination. This is a significant jump from just 5%** of bookings in January 2024. This spike underscores the allure of a European summer, with Australians eager to escape the winter chill and enjoy the sunny climates and rich cultures of Europe.
- Seasonal travel shifts: The appeal of different destinations shifts with the seasons. While 20%** of TID customers travelled to Japan in January 2024, this number dropped to 6%** by June 2024. Australians prefer to explore Japan in the summer months and seek out the European sunshine during the Australian winter.
- Longer trips: The data also indicates a trend towards longer vacations. In January 2024, only 8%** of trips lasted more than five weeks. By June 2024, this figure had nearly doubled to 15%**, suggesting that more Australians are taking extended holidays, particularly to Europe, to chase the sun and escape the winter chill.
TID offers comprehensive coverage tailored to meet the needs of Australian travellers. With this limited-time 15%* discount, TID says now is the perfect opportunity to secure travel plans. TID’s travel insurance policies provide the protection and support needed for a worry-free journey, whether exploring historic European cities, scenic landscapes in Japan, or any other destination.
